I was already proud to have been a member of the cast of Within the Law, a 1912 melodrama produced last year by the Obie award-winning Metropolitan Playhouse. Over a hundred years after it had been written, many of the play’s themes were still surprisingly relevant; as the Times noted in its review, “However current the issues of income inequality, a living wage and an arbitrary criminal justice system may be, Within the Law reminds us that they have long been fodder for popular entertainment.”
Well now I’m doubly proud, because we’ve just been nominated for an NYIT Award for Best Revival! Here’s a fun photo (courtesy of the NYIT Awards) of some of the cast and production team at the nominee announcement party. The award winners will be announced later this month, on September 21st.
